We Are The Music Makers...

We are Make It Happen Entertainment. We Are Music. We need your assistance in keeping the music alive.

How, you ask? Simply by supporting the artists that are featured at our shows (so attending the shows help)and on our radio show. Also, by spreading the word.

There is no use in complaining about what traditional radio is or isn't doing. The fact is that traditional radio is no longer a viable media to discover new, relevant music and artists. So, if you are a lover of music, you will continue to be disappointed by what traditional radio lacks. Our radio show, and many like ours is where you'll find what you've been missing. The same goes for Record labels...they're over. The sooner the true music lover accepts this, the sooner we can move into a more enlightened state of musical bliss.

Ok, so like I said we need your help. If you follow us, then you know that we feature many dynamic, new and true artist at our numerous events. If you don't, then I invite you to come see for yourself. I also invite you college kids out there, looking for an entry point into the entertainment business to join us for a fulfilling experience. The main requirement is that you love music. If you are interested in finding out about the other requirements, please contact us at: mihemusic@gmail.com.

Our July events were kind of sparse, but we have some exciting shows coming in August in a variety of genres. Rock, Jazz, Hip-Hop and, of course, Soul/R&B. We got you covered.

Before I go, I will leave you with a list of links which will allow you to check us out and, hopefully, entice you to help us spread the word. Here they are:

In Our Small Way...

Hey folks,

I'm sure many of you watched the Michael Jackson memorial service and found your opportunity to purge. Let it go. Tears, emotions in remembrance of the man and his music.

On Sunday, June 28th, we held a tribute to Mike in NYC. The event was well attended by many who loved his music. There was singing, dancing and good times. The event was covered by Dutch tv show, NOVA and was included in a piece they did on how Mike's death affected folks in the NYC area. We invite you to share in that moment with us. Here's the link:

Please cut and paste the link in your browser and press play on the video.

Now on to some Make It Happen stuff.
I hope that you all listen to the ISB Radio Show during the weekend. We are working on bringing you the show live, but in the meantime, check us out every Saturday and Sunday at 12pm EST on www.RhythmAndSoulRadio.com and give us feedback right here in the comments.

We are here to provide independent artists with the support they need to increase their exposure. To that end, we offer many services that are useful to artists, including full promotional services, bookings, video production, photo services and more. Please be sure to reach out to us to find out more.

Another Part Of...Music

"You're Just Another Part Of Me".

When Mike sang those lyrics, I was so sure he was talking about music, despite whatever he was really singing about. Michael Jackson. The King Of Pop. The greatest who has ever done it. He's gone now. In his wake, there is a sense, however mild or intense is for you to discern, that music will never be the same again. I'm not talking about the science of music. Rhythmic patterns, melodic nuances, layered harmonies. Lyrical flows. That will always be. I'm not talking about the music industry. That has been morphing into something unfamiliar for the past decade and a half. We, who are music, will make the adjustments. I'm talking about the very soul of music. The part of music that inspires, that enlightens, that elevates one's soul to higher heights. Mike seemed to have a very intimate relationship with that part of music and used that relationship to make the world feel good. To inspire growth. To make music matter.

Of course there are other artists who are capable of doing this and very well in their own right. Taking nothing away from these artists, I find it very difficult to see any of them accomplishing what Mike's done, on the level that he's done it. The current musical landscape just does not work in their favor. Mike came from a time when people cared about music more. He came out of one of the most talented families in the history of American music. He studied the best performer of his time (James Brown). Graduated from the school of Motown and created a superior catalog of music under the tutalege of one of the masters of the modern day music industry (Quincy Jones). All the while connecting with music through his hardships where nothing and no one could reach him. The world, benefited greatly from that connection. Now that he's gone, music is missing that other part of it that allows it to realize it's fullest potential.

I miss you too Mike.

Thanks to everyone who cme out to our tribute to Michael Jackson on Sunday, June 28th at SIP Lounge. It was a beautiful moment honoring our beloved brother in music. Stay with us as we bring more musical moments.

Wishing you all the best,

The Street Named LIFE

I've been down this road before the streets are still built with curves
The sidewalks of distractions called cracks
If I am not careful I may twist my ankle
Whoa, I don't want to feel that pain again
Oh look the signs of life the traffic LIGHT
Red for STOP, yellow for YIELD and green for GO
How dare I say I wasn't warned before
I took the freewary of believing in another and their words
When I made that U-Turn I drove into more storms of trials and tribulations
As I approached the new road my LIGHT directed me back on my RIGHTFUL LANE
I thank God for keeping his hands on my steering wheel
His way is the road that is Curve Free
His words will always keep me feeling Care Free
My Salvation is not FOR SALE even when I have to drive on the Street Named LIFE

That's What They Say....

I am told a man should not be alone
But rejects the woman that brings Greatness
I am told that man can't live by bread alone
But when fed with spiritual food he refuses it
I am told when a man finds a wife he finds a good thing

But he turns around and misuse her
I am told that no man is perfect then,
Why when one ask for understanding they're criticized
I am told that false prophets will come
But when exposed they try to make you feel guilty
What I have learned from many storytellers is this....
One has to walk in Faith and by the Spirit
Because mankind will make you feel like a Convenient Store
They come to you at their own Convenience!
Hey, That's What They Say......

What's Happenin' Y'all.  As you may know by now The Virgin Mega Store in Times Square, NYC will be closing it's doors forever pretty soon.  That's right the world's largest record store will be no more.  Obviously with technology taking over, our music buying experiences have changed swiftly over the last 5-10 years.  Remember back in the day you would go with your Mom or Pop or even your friends to your local record store and pick out your favorite tunes.  Damn don't you miss those days.  Remember your favorite record store?  Remember the first record you ever bought??  We'd like to know let's get it started

For me - Sean B. my store was J&R Music World, back when there was an Uptown Manhattan location in NYC.  You could hum or sing the song you heard on the radio or Soul Train (lol) to the salesperson/DJ and then play the record you wanted to hear before you bought it.  (I know my DJ Peeps is lovin' that.) My 1st record...........Masterpiece by the Temptations featuring the single "Papa was a Rollin' Stone".  Hahaaaaaa, Now That's What's Happenin'!  Hit us up with yours!!!!

I STILL HAVE HOPE.....

I was saying yes I can before hope became popular
Before hope became popular I stood up for what was right
Right now we're in a worldwide crisis
Crys~is (Crisis) that the good vs the bad
Bad money vs poor education
Poor education vs poor leadership
Leader~ship is drowning because of tainted media
Media please pardon me for still hoping and standing for our children Rights
Rights of saying yes we can if we don't focus towards the money
Money can make a change but I rather my hands grab a needle and thread
Sow our community back into a village of Hope...Remember I STILL HAVE HOPE...

INHALE MUSIC, EXHALE LIFE by Heshima Moja

Like many people, I grew up in an urban environment. I woke up every morning and left my house, inhaling deeply as I stepped out onto the street to begin my day. It was my ritual. I never stopped once to think about the quality of the air I was inhaling, what I was absorbing into my body, or how the simple act of breathing affected my life. Like so many people, I suffered from respiratory problems, including juvenile asthma, and allergies. For the first ten years of my life, I was convinced that I would suffer from these problems my whole life. I knew nothing different, so I accepted my condition. Then, one day, something incredible happened to me: my first family vacation to upstate New York, deep in the Adirondack Mountains.

I can remember waking every morning and taking in large amounts of fresh mountain air. It did not sting my nostrils like the air in the city. I was filled with energy that I had not experienced before. I would sit in silence and just breathe. Even more amazing was the effects that I saw on my breathing as the days passed by. I could breathe more freely each day, and my mental clarity improved as I spent time in a clean and healthy environment.

At this point you may be asking yourself what air and music have to do with each other. The connection is quite simple actually: Just as the quality of the air we breathe affects the quality of our physical being, the quality of our music has the power to affect our emotional/mental state. Young people "inhale" thousands of hours of music with little or no cultural or emotional value. The laws of nature tell us that what one takes into their being is what will come out eventually. It is only a matter of time. James Allen, in his book, "As A Man Thinketh," details the power of thought, discussing how the seeds of our thoughts take root and produce the lives that we live. As we "inhale" music that disseminates negative ideas about people of color, women, and our communities, we are plating the seeds that will produce the opposite of what we desire in our lives. One cannot "inhale' negativity and "exhale" positivity.

In order to heal ourselves emotionally and rebalance ourselves mentally, we must first identify the missing link between what we are experiencing, and what we wish to experience. This missing link is Knowledge. Much of the music that serves as an alternative to the current offerings is not made available to the general public. As a young boy, I accepted the polluted air I was breathing until I was exposed to something of greater quality. Much of the general public accepts what is offered because they are not aware that anything else exists. In Part II of this series, we will examine solutions to issues identified in Part I. Stay tuned... "Inhale Music, Exhale Life."

Have You Checked Your Expiration Date?

Hey everyone, I first want to say I am grateful and thankful to be among MIHE family and friends. I am Tonya E. aka Miss Right Now and I am all about the TRUTH and MAKING A DIFFERENCE. What you will read from my blogs are writings stemming from my inner spirit, journeys of what I see daily and purely life events. So I welcome you along with the entire MIHE family to it's NEW VENTURE. To learn more about me please visit my websites at www.stopcussin.com or www.missrightnowinc.com. So now that we have that out of the way let's go into our title for today " Have you checked your expiration date? "

What would you do if you were told you had one month to live? What would you do if you checked your expiration date and it was soon to expire? What would you do if God started planting corruptable seeds in your life because you refuse to hear and obey his words? Why do you continue to recieve and believe in another man's words instead of your Creator's words ? So I ask you again, " Have you checked your expiration date? "

This question came into my thoughts because of a close friend of our extended family was given a month to live. The doctors prediction was given in the beginning of January 2009. Today, it's Febuary 1, 2009 and she's still among us growing weak daily, however awaiting for her expiration date. It saddens me because she is 45 years old, a single mother of her 12 year old son and many goals to accomplish. This speaks volume and truth that we do not have control of our expiration date. Time is not to be taken for granted, however appreciate every second granted.

It lead me to think as a single mother myself what would I do if I was told I had only a month to live because of a deadly disease that has encamped within my body? I laid several nights praying for our friend and asking God to cover her with the peace of mind and cover her young son with understanding that he will see his mother again. We ask our children to understand and be strong, however are we able to understand if they can't handle the pain they are feeling? Are we euipped with the right tools to help them understand and to stand strong?

Have you ever taken notice that everything that we purchase has been stamped with an expiration date? We trust the distributor and the merchant that their products are in good condition to purchase. We trust the name brand stamped on the product of being worthy enough for our purchase. We put our trust knowing that if we make a simple purchase of milk today that we will have another week to finish it's carton before it becomes spoiled. We put some much TRUST in a man~made stamp than in our Creator's stamp.

I ask again if you knew your expiration date what would you do or what changes would you make? Why must one try to do all they can if knowing they had a certain amount of time to do it? Why wouldn't one just utilize their time granted with the unknown expiration date and do as much as they can daily? So I ask you again, " Have you checked your expiration date? "

Today, let's be grateful for our time granted and know that making ourselves too busy is not the answer to getting to our destination any faster. It's time for us to get ourselves in order, because we do not know our expiration date. Only one knows and he is not seen by our eyes. Put your TRUST and BELIEVE that your CREATOR has designed your BLUEPRINT with your NAME ON IT !

I encourage you to leave your comments and share your accounts of your journey. I hope this seed has been planted within one soul to STOP, LOOK and LISTEN!! Until next time stay BLESS~FILLED!

Respect Given Always,
Your Ndpendent Woman

WELCOME TO THE WORLD by Danny Brookings

Here we are.

The world is changing and, depending on your perspective, it's the same as it ever was. I mean, you know the old saying, "Two rights don't make a left. Three do." That is true. Go on, ask somebody.

Although the world is changing before our lives, our own, personal vantage points will determine how we see those changes. Things are not always what they seem, but they're always what they are whether you see it or not.

Welcome to the world y'all. I'm going to bed.
